About

Hey there, thanks for stopping by.

I'm Anup. I like solitude, buses with empty seats, solo journeys with my camera, quiet seashores, the rain outside a window, small cafes, late nights with a book, travel shows, and sharing a tea with friends.

I'm an Entrepreneur and the Founder CEO of Security Quotient. I discovered the domain of cyber security by chance and it became an important part of my life. I'm also a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

Security Quotient has been my life's work — nearly two decades helping organisations navigate cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI governance across Asia and the Middle East. We work with frameworks like ISO 27001, ISO 42001, and the emerging wave of data privacy laws sweeping the world. It is serious, important work — and I find it genuinely fascinating.

I am deeply interested in technology and love tinkering with it.

I'm also a deep student of film-making. I write, direct (…and edit) films under my own banner, OpenCinemas.

I admire O V Vijayan, Ruskin Bond, James Herriot, Marquez and Pottekkat. My favorite genres are Zen stories, Vietnam, Biographies, and Cricket from the 80s & 90s. I love to fall asleep gently by reading.

I'm curious about Wabi-Sabi. I recently discovered the beautiful concept of Kintsugi.

I collect and repeatedly watch films by Kurosawa and Wong Kar Wai (we share the same birthday). My favorite 3 are In the Mood for Love, Rashomon, and The Band's Visit. My secret idea of a perfect world is Kurosawa discussing the next frame with Wong Kar Wai or Wasim Akram bowling to Vivian Richards with Curtly Ambrose warming up to bowl the next over.

I love to travel, click pictures and cook for family and friends. I've done a bit of SCUBA diving and am a certified open-water diver.

But, more than anything else, I am father to Nava and Jeeva, life partner to Smitha, and friend to a precious few.
